Flat-lay is a style of photography where objects are arranged on a flat surface, and photographed from directly above. The arrangement is carefully curated to create a visually appealing and aesthetically pleasing composition. This style includes Knolling, which arranges the objects in parallel or 90 degree angles. When shot correctly, the items can be arranged in any order you want, with lighting remaining consistent.
